The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported on Friday that official ballots for the October Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections have already been printed for four regions and one province (BSKE).

John Rex Laudiangco, spokesman for the Comelec, stated that these ballots were for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Caraga, Soccsksargen, Davao Region, and Batanes.

“Per update of the printing committee, 15 percent of the projected ballot quantities have been printed,” Laudiangco told reporters.

The official added that the number will increase as a result of the hearings that the Election Registration Board (ERB) will conduct next month regarding the registration applications submitted by voter applicants.

“These are projected figures as the final quantity will be determined after the conduct of the Election Registration Board hearings come February, to include all approved applications for this registration cycle, as well as those subject to inclusion/exclusion by the Courts. The 15 percent fully completed comprises the four regions subject of first deployment (BARMM, CARAGA, 11, 12 and the Province of Batanes), with additional printings to be done, if any, per the results of the coming ERB hearings,” he added.

The Comelec began printing ballots in preparation for the BSKE originally scheduled for December 5, 2022.

In October 2022, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law Republic Act 11935, rescheduling the barangay and SK elections to October 30, 2023.
