THE Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) will impose an increase in toll rates starting Sunday, May 22.

Operator Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), along with the joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), and in cooperation with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), said the new toll rate for CAVITEX R-1 segment will be effective on Sunday.

It was originally scheduled to start on May 12, but they decided to defer it until Sunday.

This means that motorists who would ply the CAVITEX R-1 shall pay P33.00 for Class 1 vehicles from the current P25.00; P67.00 for Class 2 from P50.00; and P100.00 for Class 3 from P75.00.

“The supposed implementation in Parañaque Toll Plaza last May 12 was deferred to provide more time for the registration of PUV (public utility vehicle) drivers and operators to the toll reprieve program which allows them to continue to enjoy the old toll rates of P25 for Class 1, P50 for Class 2 through a rebate program,” CIC said.

“The toll reprieve program is system driven via the RFID, so all the PUVs operators and drivers have to do is enroll their account to the program in coordination with their different transport organizations,” the company said.

It also said the TRB expressed gratitude to CIC and its joint venture partner PRA “for their cooperation and support to the mass transport groups.”

“Target enrollees to the program are all drivers and operators of the 1,420 public utility vehicles that ply through CAVITEX,” CIC said.
