Davao City to stay under GCQ with heightened restrictions

Davao City will stay under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions until August 31, 2021.

This is after the  Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the management of emerging infectious diseases announced on Thursday the new restrictions classifications, placing Davao City under GCQ with heightened restrictions from Sunday, August 1, to  August 31, 2021.

Currently, the city is under GCQ with heightened restrictions from July 15 – 30, 2021. The city’s restriction classification shifted to GCQ from the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from July 1 to 15 to stem transmission of the Covid-19. This also allows the city government to maintain its efforts in prevention, enforcement, testing, tracing, isolation, and vaccination programs.

Under the GCQ with heightened restrictions, no persons below 18 and above 65, pregnant women, and people with comorbidities cannot leave their residences except for obtaining essential goods and services, or for work in permitted industries. 

Outdoor non-contact sports and other forms of exercise are ALLOWED even for those aged below 15 and above 65.

Gatherings are prohibited except for the provision of health, government, and humanitarian services.

Religious gatherings are allowed up to 30 percent venue capacity, while necrological services, wakes, and funerals for those who died of causes other than Covid-19 shall be allowed to immediate family members only.

For travel, Interzonal travel from Davao City is limited to APORs. Intrazonal travel within Davao City is allowed and no travel pass is required.

For transport, public transportation shall be allowed to operate at such capacity following the guidelines issued by the Department of Transportation. Active transportation such as biking is encouraged.

The establishments that are allowed include: food and medicine manufacturers/stores, logistics service providers, BPOs, essential retail and service establishments, dental, optometry, and other medical clinics, mining and quarrying, banks/money transfer services are allowed, telco companies, and 3rd party contractors. establishment necessary for online buying and selling of goods.

Indoor and outdoor activities are only allowed at a limited capacity. Only 20 percent for Indoor dine-in services, 50 percent for outdoor dine-in services. 30 percent for salons, barbershops, and other personal care services, 30 percent for outdoor Tourist Attractions.

PSCO Lottery and horse racing, and establishments with Safety Seal Cert are allowed to operate to an additional of 10 percent beyond prescribed capacity.

The activities which are not allowed under the GCQ classification are: indoor tourist attractions, non-contact sports, courts and venues, venues for M.I.C.E. (Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) & social events, recreational venues such as internet cafes, amusement arcades, entertainment, etc, cockfighting, theme parks and kiddie rides.
