The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued annual Adobe Creative Cloud Licenses to all public schools to improve teachers' and students' digital literacy skills.

The Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) has partnered with Adobe and the Creative Nation Academy to procure about 108,000 licenses and share knowledge and expertise on using these tools through the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS). Following their distribution, the creative licenses were quickly activated.

"DepEd must provide these licenses to our public schools because we are now in the creative development era. Anyone can be a content creator due to the simplification and adaptability of existing mobile devices where learning and design can blend as one," Undersecretary for Administration Alain Del B. Pascua emphasized.

According to Undersecretary Pascua, the Department is preparing students to be globally minded and encouraging them to use industry-standard software to improve their job ability.

Mr. Mark Sy, ICTS-Educational Technology Unit Head, also emphasized the importance of opening doors to the teaching force, as they are the ones who mold learners' transferrable skills.

"If we do not provide them with these tools, we cannot have competitive graduates who will help the Philippines in [raising] global digital skills standards that contribute to nation-building," Mr. Sy explained.

DepEd has conducted various webinars on various productivity tools and design software as part of the Digital Rise Program to ensure that all DepEd schools have the appropriate tools and software to promote technological advancements. It also aims to boost teachers' digital and multimedia arts creativity.

"Another program of the ICTS-EdTech unit is the provision of Adobe CC licenses to teachers who have qualified and passed the Adobe Creative Educator Level 1 course offered by the Adobe Education Exchange program. In this way, we can say that our DepEd teachers have proven their skills which are at an international standard," Mr. Sy noted.

The Adobe Creative Cloud is a unified collection of Adobe desktop software and mobile applications. This can be accessed via an Adobe Federated ID linked to the school's email address, made available on Jan. 15, 2022.

The Digital Rise Program is part of Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones' Public Schools of the Future (PSOF) Framework, which is led by Undersecretary Alain Del B. Pascua and Assistant Secretary Salvador Malana III.
