The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday urged officials working in the government to serve as role models by getting immunized against COVID-19.
“We just want to urge all government officials, let us try to be models para sumunod ang mga tao,” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.
“Tayo po ang magpakita na may kumpyansa tayo dito sa ating mga bakuna at tayo po ang magpakita na ito po 'yung talagang ating armamento para maprotektahan ang buong populasyon,” she added.
The DOH spokesperson also said it is “unfair” if government workers wait for other types of COVID-19 jabs.
“Having to say that we wait for another brand would be unfair for other workers who have followed and complied with the protocols of government and have contributed to the protection of the population,” Vergeire said, stressing that all brands of COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.
Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta earlier said she has yet to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as she is waiting for a protein-based vaccine due to her health woes.
Last week, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III appealed to Acosta to get jabbed.
Since March 2021, over 57.84 million people have completed vaccination against COVID-19, while 59.98 million individuals have received partial protection.
