The Houston Rockets and John Wall have agreed to work together on finding a trade destination for the veteran guard, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The 31-year old will still attend the Rockets' training camp, but he will not suit up for the 2021-22 season in order to preserve his health and fitness.

The Rockets are moving forward with their young and promising backcourt of Kevin Porter Jr. and second overall pick Jalen Green.

Finding a trade partner would not be easy as Wall is still owes $91.7 million over the next two seasons, including a player option for $47.4 million in 2022-23.

Wall, a five-time All-Star, was traded to Houston that sent Russell Westbrook (now with the Los Angeles Lakers this season) to the Washington Wizards last year.

He made his return with the Rockets after missing the entire 2019-20 season with Achilles and heel injuries, averaging 20.6 points and 6.9 assists in 40 games last season.

According to ESPN, the relationship between him and the Rockets ownership and management remains strong, as both parties have been in frequent communication throughout the offseason.

Rockets sources said that they owe Wall a huge favor for his leadership after the franchise was forced to enter rebuilding mode after the James Harden trade.
