Frontal System continues to affect Northern Luzon. According to PAGASA’s forecast, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte will have cloudy skies with rains.
With the onset of the rainy season or tag ulan in the Philippines, internittent rain associated with the southwest monsoon, or Hanging Habagat, will continue to affect Metro Manila and the western sections of the archipelago. The rest of the country will experience localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
Meanwhile, periods of intense heat will continue to occur and last for several more days or weeks.
One of the highest heat index recorded for this month was 44C. It was observed in Daet, Camarines Norte at 11AM on Wednesday. The highest was at 55C recorded on May 1 in Pangasinan. With this heat index, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is probable with continued exposure outdoors. PAGASA advised that limiting the time spent outdoors drinking plenty of water and avoiding coffee, liquor and tea may help prevent such illness to happen.
