Two Muntinlupa courts granted the request of the camp of former Sen. Leila de Lima to allow a US Congressional delegation to visit her in her detention.

The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branches 204 and 205 both granted the Extremely Urgent motion filed by De Lima’s legal team to allow US Congressional delegates to visit her on Friday.

The orders were signed by Presiding Judges Abraham Joseph Alcantara and Romeo Buenaventura on August 19, respectively.

The courts gave a few hours to visit De Lima.

No video or audio recording will be allowed, and no media or any form of online or social platform coverage shall also be allowed.

The Jail Warden is directed to make a report within five days of compliance with the order to the court.

The US delegation went to the Philippine National Police headquarters on Thursday but was not allowed to visit as officers pointed out a lack of court order.

De Lima recently marked her 2000th day in detention due to drug charges she claimed were trumped up, as she called her continuing detention proof of the “broken” criminal justice in the country.
