PeopleAsia magazine, one of the country’s top lifestyle glossies, recently honored 12 esteemed gentlemen from this year’s “Men Who Matter” lineup.

One of the magazine’s flip covers is the president and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), presidential adviser for flagship programs and projects, and deputy chief implementer of the country’s National Action Plan Against COVID-1 Secretary Vince Dizon.

According to PeopleAsia, under Dizon’s watch, the BCDA has remitted around P17.8 billion to the national government in the last four years — the highest remittance of any administration, roughly translating to 37 percent of the institution’s total remittances in the past 29 years.

Aside from Dizon, another public servant on the list is Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who leads the country’s fight against insurgency, terrorism, and territorial disputes.

PeopleAsia Men Who Matter 2021 list also trains the spotlight on business people who quickly pivoted in the new normal, two of which are JC president & CEO Jonathan So and JC co-founder & CFO Carl Macadangdang. So and Macadangdang are the two forces behind the highly coveted franchise Siomai King and the newly-launched transport logistics provider toktok and online shopping platform toktok Mall, among others.

On continuously growing and expanding JC, these are what So and Macadangdang has to say. “I learned to deal with people, understand the grind. I realized that there is no shortcut to success,” says So in his feature article on PeopleAsia.

On the other hand, Macadangdang adds, “Once you have grown your business to your desired size or level of success, then finally, you’ll have the luxury of resources. But, until then, saving up is the best thing you can do.”

Other awardees include Rep. Ronnie Ong, Converge ICT Solutions CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy, Telepreneur Corp. and Lueur Lauren International Corp. president and CEO Lorenzo Rellosa, journalist Roby Alampay and Ben & Ben’s lead vocalists Miguel and Paolo Benjamin Guico.
