The Quezon City government has identified 1,300 vendors in their area to get P2k each if they agree to get inoculated with anti-coronavirus vaccines. The incentive resulted from a memorandum signed by Mayor Belmonte that would compensate them for lost income. The catch, they have to get inoculated between January 8 to 31, 2022.

So far, 234 ambulant vendors, market vendors, and market employees availed their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of January 19, Wednesday.

The QC Market Development and Administration Department (MDAD), assisted by the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) and Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management (TFTTM), provided the master list of eligible vendors.

They need only to present previous registration with MDAD or present a vending permit, certification from their barangay or reputable vendors' association, and proof of residency in Quezon City through any valid ID such as the QC ID barangay ID, or voter's ID, among others.

"We understand that most vendors cannot take a day off due to loss of income that would put food on the family table, so we decided to provide them with an incentive to encourage them to receive COVID-19 shots," Mayor Belmonte said.

Meanwhile, the City's law enforcement units have conducted joint operations to implement the 'No Vaccine, No Ride' policy set by the national government.

Since Monday, a total of 570 unvaccinated commuters were brought to the vaccination site at the Quezon Memorial Circle to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Those who hesitated were sent home and asked to bring certification from a licensed physician and their respective barangay for clearance as proof that they could not get vaccinated.

"Tuluy-tuloy ang ating operations sa mga kalsada tulad ng Commonwealth Avenue kung saan sari-sari ang mga pampublikong sasakyan na dumaraan tulad ng bus, jeep, at mga UV express dahil ipinapatupad na po natin ang 'No Vaccine, No Ride' policy ng Department of Transportation. Nakikiusap po kami sa ating mga pasahero na magpabakuna na po tayo," TF Disiplina Action Officer Deck Pelembergo said.
