The remains of the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was killed and burned in Kuwait will be brought home on Friday, announced the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The employer will pay for the repatriation of the remains of murdered OFW Jullebee Ranara, according to DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo Jose de Vega.
De Vega said that the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has retained the services of a lawyer who has been assisting the Philippine ambassador and vice consul in discussions with the Kuwaiti prosecutor in charge of the case.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is in charge of making sure Ranara's family sees and receives her remains, according to De Vega.
Ranara, 35, was discovered dead and burned in a Kuwait desert last Sunday.
On Monday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced that it was collaborating with the DFA and urged the Kuwaiti government to swiftly resolve the situation.
Ranara’s employer's son has reportedly been detained by Kuwaiti authorities, the DMW added.
