Vaccinators are now preparing for the rollout of the vaccination program for children aged five to 11 that will begin on Feb 4.
The government will do a gradual implementation of the program, similar to the vaccination rollout for the 12-17 years old age group.
National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. announced during President Rodrigo Duterte's Talk to the People last Monday that the vaccination teams are currently building capacity.
“Iyong ating memorandum guidance ay lalabas po ngayong week at ‘yung ating town hall meetings na pamumunuan po ng DOH and series of trainings ay tuloy-tuloy ngayong week, from January 24 to 28,” Galvez said.
The government expects that the vaccine supply for children of the said age group will arrive this week.
Galvez also pointed out that the vaccine is safe and effective for children as this was made with lower formulation.
“Makaka-assure po tayo, Mr. President, sa ating mga magulang na very safe ang ating gagamitin na bakuna dahil ito ay mas mababa ang formulation na angkop para sa mga bata,” he said.
He also mentioned that there would be a vaccine site final inspection from Jan 25 to Jan 31.
According to Galvez, there will be two vaccination sites per city in Metro Manila for Phase 1 of the vaccine rollout for the age group 5-11.
But for Phase 2, the vaccination sites in Metro Manila will be expanded, together with the pilot rollout in select areas in other regions.
