Stephen Curry tallied his eighth career triple-double for the Golden State Warriors to score an upset win over the new-look Los Angeles Lakers, 121-114, in the season-opener on Tuesday night (Wednesday, Manila time).

The former two-time MVP and last season's scoring champion had 21 points on 5-of-21 shooting from the field, but he filled the statline with 10 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double.

Jordan Poole also contributed 20 points, while Nemanja Bjelica chalked up 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Golden State played without All-Star guard Klay Thompson, who is set to return this season.

The Warriors spoiled the Lakers' opening night in Hollywood, which now feature a slew of newcomers including Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and, DeAndre Jordan.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 34 points and 11 rebounds, while Anthony Davis had 30 points and 11 rebounds.

However, no other Lakers scored double figures in the game.

Former league MVP Westbrook only registered eight points on 4-of-13 shooting in his Lakers debut.

Prior to the season-opener, the Lakers were 0-6 in the preseason.
