15 volcanic earthquakes recorded in Bulusan
July 02, 2022 - Saturday 1:07 PM by Catherine Cueto

STATE seismologists on Saturday said they were able to record at least fifteen volcanic earthquakes at Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon over the past 24 hours as it continues to be restive.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) also tallied 724 tonnes of sulfur dioxide on June 30.
However, PHIVOLCS could not measure the plume's height that Bulusan emitted. Moreover, the view was obscured due to the weather. It also noted in their report that the volcano edifice remains inflated.
As of Saturday, Bulusan Volcano is still under Alert Level 1 (low-level unrest). PHIVOLCS also reiterated that both the 4-km radius permanent danger zone and the 2-km extended danger zone are not allowed.
Any flying aircraft close to Bulusan Volcano is also not advisable due to sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.
The volcano had a series of phreatic eruptions last month, the first on June 5 and the second on June 12.
