Barangay chief, wife shot dead in Cebu
March 15, 2023 - Wednesday 3:03 PM by Romeo Braceros Jr

On Tuesday morning in Barangay Poblacion, Asturias Town, Cebu Province, an unidentified gunman opened fire on a barangay captain and his wife, killing them both.
The barangay captain of Manguiao, Asturias, Mario Delfin Tundag, 57, and his wife, Edna Awit Tundag, 49, both died from gunshot wounds to various regions of their bodies.
According to Police Major Alden Zambrano, head of the Asturias Police Station, they were traveling home on a Honda PCX motorcycle when unidentified suspects in a Yamaha scooter who had been following them suddenly opened fire on them.
In the direction of Balamban, the suspects sped off.
Politics and personal animosity are two factors that the police are currently looking at, according to Zambrano.
In 2016, the barangay commander was detained after a search warrant was used to enter his residence and find long firearms without permits.
The couple's murder was "extremely planned," according to Zambrano.
This is based on what the cops observed in their acquired surveillance footage.
