‘Wicked’ Director Jon M. Chu confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that Jonathan Bailey will be starring alongside the previously announced Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the most-awaited Universal film.

“He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together. Born to be forever….. I am too excited to pretend this hasn’t been happening. We have a Fiyero!”

Fiyero is the main love interest in the story. “Wicked” is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and follows the school-age friendship between Elphaba, who Erivo will play, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch, who Ariana Grande will play.

Bailey plays Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix series “Bridgerton.” He’s done stage acting too, and the most recent was in the West End production of Mike Bartlett’s play Cock. His musicals, include the 2019 West End revival of Company. As for the movie “Wicked,” he will play Fiyero.

Universal film has been developing the Wicked movie since 2004. The Gregory Maguire adaptation movie will have two parts, which means there will be two films. The first is set to premiere on December 25, 2024, and is set a year after on December 2025.
