Anti-scalawag operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a policeman who was wanted for at least two carnapping cases in a follow-up operation in Cotabato City.

Patrolman Jassim Muhammad Plaza Aking was assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Batallion, Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO BARMM).

Police Brig. Gen. Samuel Nacion, director of the PNP-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), said Aking was arrested based on the complaint of a 65-year-old man who reported that the cop took his motorcycle.

Nacion said the same complaint was lodged by another person who said Aking forcibly took his pick-up vehicle worth P750,000.

"Patrolman Aking is sought for not one but two anti-carnapping cases. This indicates that while serving in the police force, he wronged two civilians and may have victimized more if he hadn't been apprehended," said Nacion.

Aking was arrested when IMEG operatives served the arrest warrant issued by a local court on June 28.
