The long wait is over! Finally, Fendi and Versace luxury collab has arrived!
Chief creative officer Donatella Versace and artistic director Kim Jones partnered with their respective Versace and Fendi labels to produce the Fendace collections in September of 2021, with Versace designing for Fendi and Jones designing for Versace.
Versace and Fendi showcased their collections in two campaigns that featured a long list of models, including Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Anja Rubik, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam, and Lina Zhang.
“It’s a swap rather than a collaboration and, most of all, it is done out of friendship,” Jones said in a press release. “It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”
“The campaign captures the same sense of friendship and energy we had when we were designing the collection. Kim is a visionary designer and innovator. To me, Fendace will always mean love,” Donatella added.
Fendace includes the “Fendi by Versace” line as well as “Versace by Fendi,” which was created in a joint effort by Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The collections include ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear, and accessories that are presented in an “exchange of roles and brand codes,” with Fendi’s double F logo paired with Versace’s Baroque print, the Fendi baguette paired with a Versace Medusa emblem, and co-branded graphic designs on tees and hoodies.
The brands showcased Fendace with a Steven Meisel-shot campaign and an Alec Maxwell-directed men’s and women’s visual.
The Fendi house was founded in Rome in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi and is known for its craftsmanship and inventiveness. Fendi is now linked with tradition, experimentation, and bold creation after more than 90 years.
On the other hand, Versace was founded by Gianni Versace, first launching its debut collection in 1978. Versace’s ultra-glamorous creations and magnificent theatrical costumes, and groundbreaking menswear design earned him global recognition.
Versace’s style was a mix of opulent classicism and overt passion. Supermodels Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell appeared in their outrageous commercial campaigns. Versace was both revered and reviled for his eclecticism and impudence.
The “Versace by Fendi” and “Fendi by Versace” lines are now available for purchase at pop-up shops worldwide.
The collections will also be available on the Fendi and Versace websites and at retail boutiques. The “Fendi by Versace” line will be available in Versace stores, while the “Versace by Fendi” collection will be available in Fendi stores.
