
Francince Padios brings PH's first gold in Hanoi SEA Games

The Philippines claimed its first gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after Francine Padios prevailed in the pencak silat women's seni (artistic) tunggal singles event.
Padios dethroned reigning champion Puspa Arum Sari of Indonesia in the finals after tallying 9,960 points.
Arum Sari ended up scoring 9,945.
Padios defeated Vuong Thi Binh of Vietnam in the semifinals to book a place for the gold.
On the same day, George Baclagan took home the bronze in the men's 90kg event in kurash, while Helen Aclopen Talongen won silver in the women's 48kg event.
The Philippine men's beach handball team also won a silver medal.
The 31st SEA Games will officially kick off on Thursday.
