Mayor Wes Gatchalian has offered a P600,000 bounty on two hired gunmen at large for the murder of barangay kagawad Alexander Liwanag Joseph last June 29.

In a statement on Wednesday, the city government accused Tito Santiago Salibio alias "Tito" and Carlito Mansueto Abalos alias "Andy" of being hired to kill the barangay official.

Gatchalian said a P300,000 each would be given for their arrest. However, the city government did not mention the motive for the killing.

Police investigation showed that Joseph was on his way to a graduation ceremony when the gunmen shot him.

Joseph, 49, was a kagawad in Barangay Canumay East.

The gunmen chased the kagawad and fired shots at him to ensure he was dead.

The victim was rushed to the Valenzuela Medical Center but died on arrival.

Through a witness, police arrested Michael Lagoc Tamayo Jr., who admitted to preparing the motorcycle that the two suspects used to escape.

In his sworn statement, Tamayo admitted to hiding the escape vehicle used in the crime.

He also admitted to joining the suspects in conducting an ocular at the place where they planned to kill the kagawad.

Investigators found the escape vehicle in Barangay Tañong, Malabon, with suspect Salibio's ID cards.
