
Heated political argument leads to the slaying of 2

A 71-year-old man and his 43-year-old daughter died after being repeatedly stabbed by the 30-year-old brother-in-law of the woman due to a heated argument over politics in Diamond Village, Matina Aplaya, Davao City, on Friday evening.
The Talomo Police identified the victims as Panfilo Orosio Manrique, a native of Purok 2, Poblacion Claveria, Misamis Oriental, and her daughter Geraldine Eltagonde Manrique, a renter of Galendez boarding house in the area.
The two victims were reportedly stabbed dead by Reo Ballenas, a boardinghouse renter.
In the initial police investigation, the three reportedly had a heated argument over their preferred candidates when the suspect got angry and stabbed the victims dead.
The suspect initially escaped but pursuing police officers arrested him in a follow-up operation.
