THE Metro Manila Development Authority calls an infographic circulating on social media showing the “new” number coding scheme that will take effect on May 16-as fake news.
The MMDA said they have not released, authorized, or even approved any present number coding scheme changes.
The present system runs from 5:00 in the afternoon to 8:00 in the evening, Monday to Friday, except on holidays.
“Bagamat may mga panukalang modification rito, wala pang pinal na naaprubahan. Sakaling magkaroon ng pagbabago sa polisiya, dapat aprubado ito ng Metro Manila Council na binubuo ng 17 alkalde ng Metro Manila, (There is a present proposed modification, but there has been no approval. If ever there will be changes to the policy, it will be approved by the Metro Manila Council and the 17 mayors),” the MMDA said.
The MMDA also urged the public to report the proliferation of such falsehoods or to verify them.
“Kung may natatanggap na mensahe o post sa social media ukol sa number coding at nais itong iberipika, maaring tumawag sa MMDA Hotline 136 o magpadala ng mensahe sa MMDA official page sa Facebook, Twitter at Instagram (If you received a message or post on social about the number coding and you wish to verify it, you may call the MMDA Hotline 136 or send a message through our Facebook, Twitter at Instagram),” the MMDA said.
The MMDA said they hope that the public will not be easily swayed by such false news or fake news.
