Luis Pablo of La Salle Green Hills was named as the NCAA 98 Juniors Basketball Most Valuable Player on Thursday.
The 6-foot-7 big man averaged 15.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game, as he led the Greenies to the Finals.
"Sobrang (Very much) thankful po sa award na ito (for this award). Gusto ko magpasalamat sa coaches at teammates ko (I want to thank my coaches and teammates),” said Pablo before the Game 2 Finals.
“But the job’s not finished yet.”
Joining Pablo in the Mythical Team members are teammate Seven Gagate, San Beda's Chris Hubilla, Letran's Andy Gemao, Perpetual's Amiel Acido, and Lyceum's Matthew Rubico.
Rubico, who also won the Rookie of the Year award, garnered the highest player average value with 55.56 compared to Pablo's 52.00.
However, league rules state that the MVP must come from a Final Four team, and the Junior Pirates failed to enter the playoffs.
Pablo also joins the All-Defensive Team that consists of Perpetual’s Acido, Arellano’s Ivan Panapanaan, LSGH’s Gagate and Pablo, Letran’s George Diamante, and Jose Rizal’s Paul Enal.
