Manila LGU to procure Bexovid open for non-Manila residents
January 19, 2022 - Wednesday 5:01 PM by Joy Catleya Antonio
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said they would procure the much anticipated antiviral drug Bexovid after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted a compassionate special permit (CSP).
The bexovid is the world’s first generic version of Pfizer’s Paxlovid used to treat mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19 ages 12 years old and above.
The antiviral pill will be open for Manileños and non-Manila residents.
Walang pulitika dito sapagkat buhay ang mahalaga," he stated.
Reports say the Bexovid can reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by 88 to 89 percent if taken within three to five days from the onset of symptoms.
Moreno stressed that they are doing their best to prevent the surge of COVID-19 cases.
In fact, they have embarked on an aggressive vaccination strategy by opening drive-thru vaccination sites.
Moreno called on the returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and returning Filipinos with COVID-19 to avail their services after learning that some are requesting for free quarantine isolation.
We offer it for free. Meron doon naka-aircondition 'yon, ganito ang mga hospital beds, may doktor, may nurse, may oxygen, may gamot, tapos may pagkain. Libre chicha 3x a day. Tapos wala kayong baayaran.
Hanggang kaya namin, tutulong kami," he added.
If they wish to avail the services being provided by the Manila Covid-19 Field Hospital, they should just inform the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) that they are not going to hotels.
The Manila Covid-19 Field Hospital has 344-bed capacity built to provide sufficient hospital care.
"Kasi as we all know, maraming tumulong sa Maynila na mga immigrants at saka OFW. Pinaldalhan kami nyan ng pera noong araw. Sabi nga, kung anong tinanim mo siyang aanihin mo," he said.
According to Moreno, they are on the right track in its COVID-19 fight due to its non-stop testings, vaccinations and booster shot.
