A total of 516 violators were apprehended by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday for violating the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme reimplemented from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Metro Manila.

In Edsa alone, 147 motorists received traffic violation receipts.

On the other hand, the No Contact Apprehension Policy of the local government units apprehended 146 violators.

Meanwhile, there were 67 violators in the Western Traffic Enforcement Unit, followed by the Southern Traffic Enforcement Unit and C5, with 27.

Along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, there were 26 violators.

Most of the apprehensions were recorded during the first hour of the reimplementation.

The MMDA said the UVVRP would be implemented during weekdays except for holidays. However, the 'window hours' remain in effect.

Meanwhile, Makati City's number coding is implemented from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, Dir.  Neomie Recio of the MMDA Traffic Engineering Center (TEC) said that the traffic volume count and travel speed following the reimplementation of the scheme are still ongoing.

"But based on our monitoring from our command center through CCTV the line of vehicles along southbound are not that many. Usually it reaches Timog flyover but not this morning," Recio said, adding that even the situation in Guadalupe to Buendia has improved.

"Before traffic situation there (Guadalupe to Buendia) is very congested but earlier it was moving. But the real evaluation will be based on the data that we can gather from TEC," the MMDA official said, stressing that the information she gave is just an initial assessment.
