The Talamban Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended three individuals on September 20, 2022, during an anti-illegal narcotics operation in Villa Leyson, Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.

They also recovered P7 million in shabu from Rulan Mahusay Mercado, 29, Ryan Arceo Zamora, 38, and Reynaldo Avila Ardina, 36, all of whom live in the subdivision.

Major Alvin Llamedo, chief of the Talamban Police Station, stated that they had been on the suspects' trail for about two months.

However, according to Llamedo, who oversaw the operation, tracking it was challenging because the suspects constantly changed addresses.

Police discovered that Mercado and Zamora's "boss" is Eugene, incarcerated at the Abuyog Penal Colony in Leyte.

Mercado informed authorities that he had only received illegal substances twice.

The shabu weighed 150 grams the first time, he claimed.

He claimed he had no idea the second delivery would include more than a kilo of shabu and would not have taken it otherwise.

Mercado, Zamora, and Ardina will face charges under Republic Act 9165, often known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
