Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano De Leon,  the PNP's Directorate for Operations director and concurrent commander of the PNP's National and Local Elections Task Force, called on individuals and groups protesting the results of the recently-concluded polls.

He said protesters should walk their talk and their love for the country
by respecting the outcome of the elections. De Leon added that the allegations of election irregularities and the sharing of disinformation are not only a disrespect to the electoral process but also the true spirit of democracy.
"They have been claiming that there were election irregularities but up to now, they have not presented any credible piece of evidence that there were indeed irregularities. It was the Comelec itself and its partner groups which declared that there was no electoral fraud; why insist on that?" said De Leon.
Several people and groups conducted rallies on Friday to protest the alleged irregularities in the national and local elections on May 9.
Without any solid evidence, De Leon said claims of election irregularity are an insult to teachers, soldiers, police officers, and others who ensured the conduct of peaceful and credible elections.
"There is no second president or second vice president in the country. We were all given the opportunity to elect one for each position, and now that the Filipino people have spoken, we have to respect it because that is how democracy works," he added.
De Leon, however, said that the PNP would observe maximum tolerance in dealing with the protesters as ordered by PNP Officer-In-Charge Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao.
