The Philippines ruled the men’s triathlon event once again after a one-two finish in the 31st Hanoi Southeast Asian Games on Saturday.
Fernando Casares won the gold while Andrew Kim Remolino took the silver.
Indonesia’s Ronald Bintang Setiawan settled for bronze.
This is the fourth straight gold for the Philippines and the third consecutive time the Filipino male triathletes ended up as gold and silver medalists.
Casares and Remolino added two more medals to Team PH’s medal haul.
Casares replaced 2019 SEA Games gold medalist John Chicano, while Remolino also finished silver.
Casares finished the 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run race above all competitors.
The Fil-Spanish pushed the Philippines’ gold medal count to six.
