Team PH bags nine gold to move up in SEA Games medal count

Team Philippines took nine gold medals on Sunday in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

With the nine-gold haul, the Philippines raised its tally to 20 gold medals, good for third place in the medal tally as of this writing.

World champion Carlos Yulo added two of his three gold medals in men’s artistic gymnastics after ruling the floor exercise and the ring, adding to the individual all-around he captured on Friday.

Kim Mangrobang won her second in the women’s duathlon.

Aleah Finnegan got her first gold medal in the women’s vault in the apparatus final.

After settling for the silver medal in the women’s taijiquan, Wushu artist Agatha Wong secured a gold finish in the taijijian event.

Also winning gold are Arnel Mandal in the sanda men’s -56 kilograms in wushu, William Morrison in the men’s shot put in athletics, and the pair of Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo in dancesport.

Host Vietnam leads the medal tally with 65 golds, while Thailand follows suit with 23 golds.
