Young weightlifters and coach gets a P1.5M incentive from the Zambo gov't

Young weightlifters Rose Jean and Rosegie Ramos and their coach Allen Diaz receive checks from Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe on September 19 in recognition of their outstanding achievement at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from July 15–25, 2022.

Rose Jean, 16, received P650K in cash as an incentive for winning four gold, one silver, and one bronze medals in the 45kg division, while Rosegie, 18, received P375K for winning three gold medals. 

Allen Diaz, their coach, also received P512,500 in bonus money.

Ordinance 565 provides the foundation for distributing financial rewards to medal winners in national and international events.

Mayor Dalipe handed over the checks to the two athletes after the flag-raising ceremony Monday morning in City Hall.

City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano and some City Department heads joined the mayor during the handover ceremony.
